Defensive security with a human face

Hacker Planet LLC is a Philadelphia security practice — open-source edge tools, field hardware, and audit-ready telemetry for homelabs, MSPs, and builders who refuse to choose between serious defense and a desk worth showing off.

Our story

Salvador Data and Pat co-founded Hacker Planet LLC in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania to close a gap they kept seeing in the field: SOCs drowning in dashboards, executives glazing over Grafana, and homelabbers wondering if their sensor was even alive. We build defensive tools that people actually watch — with evidence auditors can trust.

Salvador Data leads product, firmware, and open-source releases (GitHub salvador-Data). Pat runs Philadelphia operations — field builds, shop fulfillment, and customer support. Together we ship from Philly, document everything in the repo, and keep the mission squarely on authorized defense — networks and systems you own or are explicitly permitted to test.

Core projects ship under MIT. Rule packs, STLs, and export formats live in GitHub — not a black-box appliance. Every tool is for networks and systems you own or are explicitly permitted to test.

CyberThreatGotchi CypherTek Rache core kit

CypherTek Rache · CyberThreatGotchi

Our edge IPS in a Tamagotchi shell — the CypherTek Rache enclosure houses a Banana Pi BPI-R3 Mini running signatures, YARA, ClamAV, and IPS blocks. On e-ink, Cipherhorn (unicorn CISO) reacts to live threat pressure while SQLite logs and a tamper-evident audit chain satisfy auditors.

Mr. CrackBot AI Nano

Pocket lab assistant on Jetson Nano — authorized Wi-Fi research, handshake capture, heuristic wordlists, and GPU hashcat cracking. Stays in the lab VLAN while CypherTek Rache guards the edge. Separate repo, same defensive philosophy.

What we won't compromise on

??

Authorization first

Defend and assess networks you own or are explicitly permitted to test.

??

Open by default

Core projects are MIT. Rule packs, STLs, and exports ship in the repo.

??

Evidence matters

Threat logs, CSV export, executive JSON, and tamper-evident audit chains.

?

UX is security

If nobody watches the panel, you don't have visibility. Cipherhorn's mood is a KPI.

Business model

Hacker Planet LLC monetizes through hardware kits (Kickstarter / direct from Philadelphia), Pro threat-feed subscriptions (Stripe-ready API in CyberThreatGotchi v1.1+), and MSP install retainers. See our CISO playbook for the 90-day plan.
